Who we are
The Site is operated by Redmoon Software ("we", "us"). Contact us through the button in the footer.
What you can do
You may use the calculators on the Site for any lawful purpose, personal or commercial. Run them on text you wrote, text you have permission to analyse, or text in the public domain. Take a screenshot, share a score, quote a result — go ahead.
What you can't do
- Don't scrape the Site at a rate that interferes with normal operation. Hitting a single tool 50,000 times an hour from a bot is not "normal operation".
- Don't reupload the Site verbatim under a different name. The source code, design, and content are ours.
- Don't attempt to break, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, or work around abuse-prevention measures (Cloudflare, Turnstile).
- Don't use the Site to process text you don't have the legal right to process.
Accuracy
We implement readability and text-analysis formulas as faithfully as we can from the original sources. The formulas themselves are approximations of how readable or complex a piece of text is — they were designed in the 1940s through the 1980s and were calibrated against specific populations and text types. A "grade 8" reading level does not guarantee that an 8th-grader will understand your writing. Use these scores as guidance, not as the final word.
The calculators run in your browser, where browser bugs, unusual input, or extensions can change the result. We do not warrant that any score is correct for any particular purpose.
No professional advice
Several tools are oriented toward healthcare, legal, or accessibility writing (SMOG, Flesch–Kincaid, plain-language checks). The Site does not provide medical, legal, accessibility, or compliance advice. If your decision has legal, regulatory, or safety consequences, work with a qualified professional.
Ads
The Site shows third-party advertising via Google AdSense. Ads are clearly distinct from tool results. We do not endorse advertised products and are not responsible for the content of ads or the practices of advertisers.
External links
The Site links to external pages — original papers, related tools, Wikipedia articles, our parent company. We are not responsible for the content or availability of external sites.
Intellectual property
The Site's code, design, copy, and the curated content on each tool page (worked examples, "when to use", pitfalls, FAQs, blog posts) are © Redmoon Software, all rights reserved. The underlying readability formulas are in the public domain or the property of their original authors.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for any loss, damage, or claim arising from your use of the Site.
Changes
We may update these Terms when something material changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Redmoon Software is established. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
